Helen Howard achieved a rare WOW factor score in the delivery of her learning activity as the concluding part of her Certified Learning Practitioner assessment.
Helen Howard of FST&C Limited based at the Audley End Business Centre, Saffron Walden, undertook the live assessment part of her accreditation to become a Certified Learning Practitioner (CLP) at a workshop during May. Helen, who is a qualified accountant and whos companies strap line is 'Making Financial Control Easy' chose the potentially dry topic of Finance for non Financial Managers. However her rapport and thorough knowledge of the subject made the activity relevant, clear and engaging.
The assessment requires candidates to deliver and evaluate a learning activity in 20 minutes to a group of learning participants. The criteria for design, environment set up, delivery and evaluation are then scored by an assessor. Helen achieved a rare 3 for part of her evaluation. As Jan Brause commented in the assessment report: “There was clear evaluation at the end of the session against the original objective. This was set up in an innovative exercise where learning participants were asked to delivery their knowledge of two ways of maximising cash flow in the form of the six o’clock news. Not only did Helen make sure each person actually contributed a minimum of two suggestions the exercise was sufficiently unique to warrant a 3 rating.”
Helen met the requirements for the Standard and has now submitted her post assessment reflections commenting on the rigour of the assessment and what she has gained from the process. Helen has now been added to the register of CLPs, is eligible for recommendation by TrainerBase, can use the letters CLP and include in her own marketing that she has met the rigorous and robust TrainerBase Standard for Learning Practitioners.
To provide learning participants for the CLP candidates, TrainerBase the Association for Learning Practitioners, opens the assessments workshops to members of TrainerBase and the wider training community who are interested in finding out more about the Association and the accreditation. Both members and non members of the association took part in the assessment day and as well as being part of the live assessment, attendees were given an introduction to the CLP process, how evidence gathering works and information about TrainerBase and its current and future activities.
Peter Mayes, chief executive commented that the day was a huge success; “we have a new CLP and a new sign up and all participants were complementary about the Standard, the accreditation and what the association is doing”.
The next assessment days are scheduled for September 2009. Anyone wishing to take part and find out first hand about the benefits of the accreditation should contact Heather Girling heatherg@trainerbase.co.uk.
