I worked with Jan on a one-to-one basis over a number of months, through a period of professional transition. Jan was highly recommended to me as a coach, and from the first session it was clear why. Her approach is refreshing. She has a unique blend of personal and professional skills which she uses to great effect in understanding and guiding to a solution. Jan's patience, constant support and subtle challenge have helped me map the right path and confidently take the first steps along it. I have no doubt the next stage will prove to be the most fulfilling of my career. Simply put, I could not have done it without Jan and I recommend her without hesitation
Jan brings a multi-faceted impact to her coaching. Overlaying her approach with a quiet confidence, you feel right from the start that she is attuned to minute observations that bring new knowledge and a way forward that couldn’t possibly be achieved, otherwise. Without unnecessary ceremony, her work seems effortless, yet the dramatic results echo in many different ways for a long time after each session. She has offered me new glasses for sharp vision and I would recommend Jan to anyone who needs a coach.
I attended an SDI workshop delivered by Jan. This model needs to be delivered with competence, impact and careful phrasing in order to frame it correctly with the participants. Jan had all of these elements and in addition integrated her performance coaching experience. All this and to an audience of hard bitten trainers who asked all of the really difficult questions. All questions were answered comprehensively. I really enjoyed this presentation of SDI and learned so much more about it and I have been using it for four years. Well done Jan.
attended Jan's session at the Trainerbase conference and really enjoyed it! We had great fun with the CREATIVE EXCURSION questions at our table (something to do with coconuts and bananas...always good to generate a laugh!!) and for me that really was the power of the exercise; we started to think about something completely different so when we came back to the original task we were able to apply our energised brains and generate so many more new ideas. My associates and I already make use of a variety of resources to stimulate creativity in training and development and Jan's process added a new dimension that really appealed to me. It gave structure and purpose to applying creativity to problem solving. It is a method I am sure I will use for myself when I need some help to draw up inspiration and I am delighted that Jan was willing to share this technique with us. Jan's session was thought provoking, her presentation style held our attention and the mix of presentation and interaction was great...oh and I loved the goody bags! Thanks Jan!
The accolade most valued by a professional sports person is that given by their fellow professionals - so I trust that a testimonial from a fellow trainer will be similiarly valued. Jan's presentation at the trainerbase conference was both informative and compelling and her passion and knowledge of her subject was plain to see. Thanks for the insight.
The key benefit of the Executive Coaching Programme with Jan has been a personal improvement in focus and action which has enhanced the support provided to colleagues and consequently the wider business. It has been possible to pass on some of the techniques to other managers via one to one reviews and team sessions. Benefits have been evident for both the individuals and through their teams. The key success revolved around an approach of not imposing any method of support until Jan understood what my desired outcomes of the coaching programme were. This called on the use of techniques and structure which assisted the whole process, but with a genuine feeling of the programme being developed around the needs of the individual, as opposed to some predetermined sequence or schedule of events. Jan is someone who has a real ability to unblock whatever it is that may be standing in your way and negatively affecting your motivation and effectiveness, helping you to help yourself concentrate on the positives and the achievements you can make for yourself and others. Coaching has been first rate. Must be a 9 (plus) out of 10.
Jan worked with me on a high performance coaching programme over a period of 3 months. The process helped me to deal with ‘negative baggage’ and become refocused and motivated in my role. Clear goals and outcomes were established at the outset and the programme has put these well within reach. I was stretched out of my ‘comfort zone’ because all issues were brought to the table, nothing was left unturned and I was encouraged to look inside myself for the answers. I would rate my experience of coaching with Jan a 10 out of 10. Her professional approach and sense of care and sincerity have made an impact on my performance.
Jan worked closely with the team leaders using such tools as coaching cycles and time management techniques, the feedback given by the team leaders after the coaching sessions were that Jan had very cleverly used questioning techniques to make them come up with the solutions for themselves. She also gave some of them work to do within their role to continue the learning journey. All the team leaders who were asked what they had gained from the coaching sessions made the following observations: „Ï Jan made me really look at myself to see what kind of manager I could be „Ï Jan helped me to realise that I have the ideas for myself and that I am able to find them if I dig deep enough „Ï Jan gave me the tools to be able to problem solve for myself and continue to do so into the future On completion of the coaching sessions Jan gave constructive feedback to the customer service managers responsible for the team leaders, so that they could take this information and use it with the team leaders as part of their personal development. From our point of view as customer service managers we feel that Jan consolidated the learning from the classroom based modules and brought it to life in the workplace. An excellent exercise - well worth doing. Joanne Daynes and Deanne Quinn (CSM¡¦s) Capita TVL Darwen
During June to August 2003, I had three coaching sessions with Jan Brause. I didn't have a clue what to expect so I went in with a mainly open mind, although I was a little cynical about what these sessions would actually achieve. I am really pleased that I had the chance to meet Jan and discuss problems on a one to one basis. She is a very good listener who carefully considers what I am saying and then encourages me to think of solutions. Some of the techniques were quite challenging but I needed this challenge. It would have been too easy for Jan to tell me the solutions. She made me think things through myself which hopefully will help in the future. She also encouraged me to be focused by getting me to agree deadlines so that I went away and actually practised what we had talked about. As a result of the sessions, I have found a new way to re-energise myself and my confidence has significantly improved when meeting new people and those who could significantly influence my life. I am more relaxed with people with whom before I felt uncomfortable. And I am taking the first steps towards developing my skills as a leader and improving my image. In a calm way Jan is motivating and encouraging and has made me feel very supported.
Jan has worked with us on the development of Competency Frameworks. Her approach was at all times consistent, methodical and entirely professional. The frameworks are strongly linked to our key values. I would highly recomend Jan for any work of this nature.
Jan has provided an excellent service for the College. She quickly understood and captured the essential learning outcomes from the design brief and has delivered an action oriented and stimulating programme that has consistently received positive feedback from staff and managers.
Jan was endlessly patient with my frequent changes of content and provided an endless source of creative, structured input to the development of the day’s agenda and content.
