Joy

Thanks for the thoughts. In 22 years of using computers this is the first one I have had dye on me; and it was as I was doing a backup as well:(

We have a support agreement with a local IT company and they have recovered much of the data (mainly emails as the majority of our business data is on a server).

The biggest pain is waiting to get another laptop (waiting for a grant decision) whilst in the meantime setting up a temporary workspace on a secondary machine. And then I will have to put all the data back together with new software. I am not looking forward to learning Windows 7 and its associated software!

Don't you just hate computers sometimes:)

'While you were doing the backup' - that adds insult to injury! Hopefully all will be well - it's just frustrating that it all takes time as well as the hassle of having to find alternative equipment

(I still remember shopping in PC World on Sunday to find a laptop to use on a course the next day - I now have two laptops/netbooks so I always have a back-up!)
