Message 1 of 9: Joy Wilson on 12/02/2013
One or two incidents of dishonest behaviour forced me to say bye bye to 2 training companies last year...these incidents were related to my intellectual property and failing to pay the agreed fee.

More recently somebody asked me to put together a rather specific outline for a bespoke course. The outline won the work but because of the specific nature of the course it needed designing and accreditation with ILM. The individual then decided that he didn't want to pay for the design or the accreditation fee until after the event had run. WHAT???

So, I said bye bye and it came as no surprise when 2 training companies called me both had the outline and smelling a rat both had the integrity to call me.

Business integrity is high up in my values list. It comes with costs relating to insurances, data commissioner registrations, professional body registrations, ssl security. Perhaps I just had a run of bad luck in attracting the wrong type of client. I have now disabled copy and past functions on my sites not wanting to feed the parasites any more.

My questions - is it just me or is the market becoming over populated with dishonest players?
- What steps do you take to protect your IP?
